Second PU Syllabus is titled as 'History of Modern India, Karnataka and the World': - First Part opens with Advent of Europeans in India down to Indian freedom struggle up to 1947. The Second part deals with Karnataka history from the rise of Hyder Ali down to Unification of Karnataka up to 1973. The Third part deals with Modern world, which includes Geographical discoveries, Renaissance, Age of revolutions and Nationalism, World wars and Internal organizations, Contemporary world, India and her neighbors, India and Non-alignment, China under Mao-Tse-Tung, India and SAARC, Liberation movement in south Africa under Nelson Mandela, Disintegration of USSR and domination of USA. The fourth Part deals with Map work, which includes European settlements in India, Important centers of First war of Indian Independence and Places of Historical Importance.
At the PU level the basic concepts of Psychology are taught as theoretical & practical parts of the syllabus to help the students gain knowledge about themselves & understand human nature in general.
